SOWING:  Start seed early indoors or seed directly outdoors from early to mid spring. Sow again in late summer for fall crop. Cover with 1/8 to 1/4 inch fine soil.

THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: When seedling plants are established, thin to 10 or 12 inches apart. Replant thinned seedlings. Seedlings started indoors can be planted outside after hardening off and danger of severe frost has passed.


SUGGESTIONS:  Keep soil moderately moist Well fertilized soil produces quickly grown, sweet, crisp Romaine lettuce. Sow seeds every two weeks March to August for continued harvesting. Grows best during the cooler part of the growing season.

75 days. A fine romaine lettuce with tight, medium-large, upright heads with excellent deep-green color and fine flavor. Midribs are crunchy and juicy. Because of their higher chlorophyll content, romaine lettuces are among the most nutritious of all lettuces.
