SOWING: Seeds can be started indoors 4 to 6 weeks before last spring frost. Or direct-sow seeds outside after all danger of frost has passed to a depth of 1/16 inch. Requires a light, sandy soil with moderate amounts of water.

THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: When seedlings are 2 to 3 inches high, thin to 10 to 12 inches apart. Replant thinned plants.

GERMINATION: 7-30 days, depending upon soil and weather conditions.

SUGGESTIONS: For earliest bloom, start in a sunny window 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting outdoors. Does not transplant well. May be direct-seeded outside. Keep plants moderately moist.

Annual (One season plant). A hardy , but delicate garden plant. The cup-shaped , sky blue flowers continue to bloom throughout spring. A delight in early seeded meadows. Used as an annual groundcover, in flower beds, and containers. Can tolerate full sun in cooler climates, but prefers partial shade. They are rather intolerant of heat. Requires little maintenance and is easily grown from seed. Over-winters in milder climates.
