SOWING: Sow seeds directly outdoors in spring after danger of serious frost has passed. Cover seeds with 1/8 inch of fine soil. Can also be sown in early fall for blooms the following year. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

THINNING & TRANSPLANTING: When seedlings are 2 to 3 inches tall thin or transplant to 8 to 10 inches apart.

SUGGESTIONS:  After blooming ceases, shear back plants lightly for possible later blooming. Plants often reseed themselves and can spread throughout the garden if not contained. Water plants well when dry.

Growing to 16"-18¿ tall, this biennial (grow as an annual) features attractive gray-green foliage. Makes an unforgettable sight when planted with spring flowering bulbs. This was a 1939 All-America Selections Winner, and is still popular today. Perfect for naturalizing and in rock gardens. A good cut flower and eye-catching garden border.
