SOWING: Sow seeds directly outdoors in spring after danger of serious frost has passed. Cover seeds with 1/8 inch of fine soil. Can also be sown in early fall for blooms the following year. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
THINNING & TRANSPLANTING: When seedlings are 2 to 3 inches tall thin or transplant to 8 to 10 inches apart.
SUGGESTIONS: After blooming ceases, shear back plants lightly for possible later blooming. Plants often reseed themselves and can spread throughout the garden if not contained. Water plants well when dry.

HEIRLOOM. A favorite old-fashioned annual that bears an abundance of deep, bright blue blooms produced in loose sprays on stiff upright stems all summer long. Growing to 16"-18¿ tall, this biennial (grow as an annual) features attractive gray-green foliage. Makes an unforgettable sight when planted with spring flowering bulbs. This was a 1939 All-America Selections Winner, and is still popular today. Perfect for naturalizing and in rock gardens. A good cut flower and eye-catching garden border.
