SOWING: Sow seed in place from early to late spring. Barley cover seed with 1/8 inch of fine soil. Can be sown in fall in mild winter areas.  Keep soil moderately moist during germination.

THINNING: When young seedlings are about 2 inches high thin them to 6 to 10 inches apart. Flax does not transplant well.

SUGGESTIONS:  Plants grow best in full sun or partially shaded areas in well drained soil. Shear back faded blooms lightly to encourage continued flowering. Do not fertilize or overwater this easy to grow perennial.

Blue Flax is a Perennial that grows 12 to 24 inches high. Small, narrow leaves. Five petaled saucer-shaped sky-blue flowers profusely adorn this vigorous perennial. Blooms throughout the summer on erect grass like stems. Use towards the middle of borders mixed with other wildflowers or plant en-masse in naturalized flowering meadows.
