SOWING: Direct sow seeds 1/8 inch deep in light well-drained soil in sunny location.  Seeds may be started  indoors 6 to 8 weeks before last frost is expected for same year blooms.  Firm soil over seed and keep moist.

THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING:  Thin or transplant to 10 to 12 inches apart when plants are 3 inches high.

SUGGESTIONS:  Carnations can be planted in mid-summer to bloom the following year. Protect from coldest weather by mulching with straw.   For continued blooming remove faded blossoms and feed lightly every 6 to 8 weeks.

Half Hardy Perennial. Large fringed double flowers on strong stems with a delightful fragrance. Flowers bloom in many shades of crimson, red, rose, pink, yellow and white. Known for its long season of bloom, from summer to frost. Superb for cut flower arrangements. Great for borders and bedding. When used as an indoor pot plant, it will flower much of the year. 60 - 90 days to bloom. Grows best in full sun to a height of 18-20 inches.
