SWEET WILLIAM
Double Mixture
Dianthus barbatus
BIENNIAL/PERENNIAL. Very popular biennial garden flower. Large flowering, sweetly scented double blossoms in a colorful mix of combinations of reds, pinks, and whites - with some bi-colored. Blooms the year after planting in mid-spring to mid-summer. Since it is so colorful and fragrant, Sweet William makes a wonderful cut flower. This tall variety of an old-fashioned favorite is an excellent background plant in beds and borders. Grows best in full sun to a height of 18 inches. Where winters are mild, seeds may be planted outdoors in the fall for spring blooms. Hardy in zones 5-8.
