Lightly rake into soil or cover with light soil to a depth of 1/8 inch. Can be sown in Fall in mild winter areas.

THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: When seedlings are 2 to 3 inches high, thin to 10-12 inches apart. Replant thinned plants.

GERMINATION: 15-75 days, depending upon soil and weather conditions.

SUGGESTIONS: For earliest bloom, start in a sunny window 6 to 8 weeks before transplanting outdoors. May be direct-seeded outside. Keep plants moderately moist.
Cut the flower stalks after the first bloom to encourage formation of a second spike.  Established plants resent being transplanted and seldom live once dug up.
