Days To Germinate: 10-14
Days To Maturity: 85
Planting Depth: 1/8 to 1/4 inch
Spacing, Plant: 18 inches
Light: Full Sun
SOWING: Sow seeds directly into the garden from early Spring through Summer. Plant in full sun in fairly rich well drained soil. (Garlic chives also grow in light shade.) Cover seed with 1/8- 1/4 inch fine soil firmed down.
THINNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Carefully thin or transplant seedlings 3 to 4 inches apart. Use thinned plants dried or fresh.
HARVEST: Harvest outer leaves cutting just above ground level with a knife. Use leaves fresh or dry them before plants flower as they lose flavor and texture after that point. Freeze for later use by snipping leaves into 2-inch pieces. Place in tightly sealed bags or containers.
SUGGESTIONS: Keep plants well watered in summer. Divide crowded clumps every 2 years. Snip leaves at the base frequently to encourage growth.
