LAVENDER
Common English
Lavendula angustifolia (L. vera)
PERENNIAL. Colorful herb and landscape perennial. This is true lavender (Lavender Angustifolia 'L. Vera'). A long-time favorite with herb enthusiasts. Hardy plants with aromatic lavender blue flower spikes are lovely in borders in sunny, well-drained soils. Plant height is 18-24 inches.
USES: Use cut flowers in arrangements. The plants have aromatic sweet fragrance that can perfume a room. Both fragrant leaves and flowers can be dried to use in sachets, soaps, potpourri and perfumes. Flowers can be used in salads or as a garnish. Use fresh to flavor vinegars and jellies. Excellent for borders.
