SOWING: For best results, start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before planting outdoors. In warm areas, may be seeded directly outdoors in the spring after all danger of frost has passed. Cover with ¼ inch of fine soil.  Plant in sunny spot where soil is well drained.

THINNING: Thin and replant in individual pots or garden space when plants are two inches high. Thin plants to 12-18 inches apart.

HARVEST:  Harvest begins when the plants reach 12 inches.  Pick leaves for drying when plant begins to bloom. Harvest leaves continually to keep plants compact and productive.
Store leaves in airtight jars.

SUGGESTIONS:  Use in landscape borders or patio containers.  Marjoram can be dug and wintered over and grown in pots indoors for fresh use.

Sweet Marjoram

Origanum marjorana

A tender perennial that is grown as an annual. 70 days to harvest. The plant forms an attractive mound of small leaved green sprigs. Velvety, grey-green, oval leaves have spicy aroma. Pungently-flavored leaves and young stem tips are used fresh or dried to flavor meats, poultry, cheese dishes, soups, dressings and salads. A pinch of fresh leaves adds a subtle appetizing aroma and taste to fresh garden salads. Bushy plants are 12-24 inches tall. Also, Marjoram can be used in landscape borders or patio containers.
PLEASE NOTE: Marjoram can be dug and wintered over and grown in pots indoors for fresh use.
