SOW: in deep, well-worked soil after all danger of frost in mid to late spring.  SOW 6-8 seeds in groups, allowing 2-3" between the seeds;  space the groups 6-8  apart each way.  Cover seeds with 1/2" of fine soil and firm lightly.

THIN: to 2 or 3 seedlings in each group after plants are large enough to handle.

SUGGESTIONS:  Watermelons thrive in a sunny, warm location.  For early fruiting and to overcome a short growing season, seedlings may be started indoors.

Large 20 to 25 pound striped watermelon. Round melons averaging 20-25 lbs. are oval light green with dark green stripes. Has very sweet flesh that is brilliant red and practically seedless. A good shipper. Produces heavy yields of melons. Disease resistant. Ready for harvest about 85 days after seeding.
