SOWING: In fertile, well-drained soil after all danger of frost from spring to early summer. For "hill" culture, space 3-4 seeds in groups 3-4 apart. Cover with ¼ to 1/2" of soil, firm lightly and keep moist. Or plant 3 seeds every 18 inches.
GERMINATION: 10-15, depending upon soil and weather conditions.
THINNNING AND TRANSPLANTING: Thin to 2-3 strong plants to each group if using "hill" method when seedlings are 3-4" high.
HARVEST: When the color changes to a buff yellow and when a slight tug separates the fruit from the stem.
Suggestions: Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Water deep and make sure plants are far enough apart so they do not crowd each other.
